Our Vision
To put Kapunda Community Gallery on the map as a rural destination for the arts. KCG enriches the community with a quality art gallery, art education programs, and artist development. Located in the Main Street of Kapunda in the heart of the Light Country, our region boasts a strong culture of community, creativity and entrepreneurship and love and care for the land we live on.
Our Mission
The Kapunda Community Gallery brings art, artists, and community together by:
- Promoting established and emerging artists and putting money in their pockets through the sale of art.
- Curating an art-filled gathering space, welcoming all segments of our community.
- Advocating for the arts as an essential component of a healthy rural economy.
About Us
The Kapunda Gallery was established in 1989 by an enthusiastic group who worked tirelessly to transform the upper story of the Thomson Building above the Library and Visitors Information Centre into a gallery, meeting and workshop area. In 2014 with the help of Light Regional Council, the gallery moved to its current larger site in the historic Hambour Building at 67-69 Main Street Kapunda. Kapunda Community Gallery Inc (KCG) is an incorporated association with a management committee that oversees the gallery's operations, elected at the Annual General Meeting held in July each year. In early 2016 the Kapunda Mural Town Project committee was formed as a sub-committee of KCG. The gallery is entirely volunteer run, and is supported by Light Regional Council, gallery and gift shop sales, hire fees, donations and sponsorship.
KCG attracts and engages artists and visual arts enthusiasts from the local Kapunda community and regional visitors through its varied program of exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and gift shop. KCG is open daily (excluding Good Friday, Christmas Day and ANZAC Day a.m.) weekdays 10am to 4pm, weekends and public holidays 10am to 3.30pm.
