About Sarah:
Hi! I'm Sarah from Glass Hippo.
I have a personal art studio in Greenock, where I live, work and play.
"Art, Classes in Mindfulness" is a series of events that are hosted in and around the local community. Collaborating with community spaces for accessibility to people living in our beautiful region.
I'm extremely passionate about art and helping people. Especially helping people, help themselves using creative outlets. As a qualified Art Therapist, Holistic Counsellor and Reiki Practitioner, I know a little something about the therapeutic benefits of creative pursuits. I work hard to provide space for people to relax, enjoy and connect with themselves. When you join a class with me, I will entice you to leave your worries at the door and simply be in the moment with yourself and your art. Its magic and remarkably quiet. Which is fabulous for those who love an art class with a lower volume and a gentle pace. Watercolor is such a beautiful medium for relaxation which is why it is so often explored in these classes. However, I have been known to host events using different art mediums such as polymer clay, acrylic paint, vision boards, charcoal, pastels etc.
I sometimes refer to these classes as "meditation, without the awkward silences". This is because despite practicing meditation and understanding the many health benefits, I've always struggled it. Until I began to practice mindfulness through art. This was a game changer for me and my overall wellbeing. I think it will be for you too. So don't be shy, come along and find some peace, while we fill your cup. When you leave, it will be a gentler, more relaxed version of you.
Make sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram so you can catch all our upcoming events.
If a one-on-one Therapy/Counselling/Reiki session is more your style, please contact me for an appointment Sarah@glasshippo.com

Mal Craig 'Parliament of Owls'
“My inspiration for this exhibition came from the collective name of owls, which is a “parliament”.
I love owls, love their ability to move their heads every which-way because large eyes can’t move.
Surreptitious, all knowing, flying silently through the night, owls are found all over the world in various shapes and sizes from the smallest one which is 150mm tall to the largest which is 70cms tall.
I enjoy portraying them in an artistic manner and also using my imagination. Come along and enjoy these paintings and sculptures that I have made.”
OPENING: 2.30pm Sunday 7 September.

Karen Slape 'Ethereal'
This exhibition Ethereal is characterised by the out worldly, dreamlike quality which has been created using soft translucent colour palettes, delicate brushwork and a focus on light and space to evoke a sense of tranquillity, mystery and even surrealism.
The artworks focus on capturing light and subjects in a way that blurs boundaries between the subject and the environment, creating a sense of weightlessness and fogginess.
Karen’s exhibition Ethereal, shows a delicate and subtle nuance where colours flow seamlessly into each other, forming a delicate and harmonious visual experience. In addition, these works may seem to breathe with a sense of fluidity and motion that evokes a moment in suspended time. The absence of heavy detail allows the viewers imagination to fill in spaces between elements, making the experience deeply personal and open ended.
“My wish is to immerse the viewer into a feeling of serenity and wonder”
Enjoy!
Karen J Slape
OPENING: 5.30pm Friday 7 February 2025.
