35 Kms. South, an exhibition of 32 works by artists of Gawler Art Society, is showing at Kapunda Community Gallery Inc.
It will be formally opened by the Chair of KCGI, Maxine Donald on February 5, and runs to March 26.
The theme is open-- the title referring to the distance and direction from Kapunda to Gawler, with works in oil, watercolour, charcoal, ink, pastel, acrylic and mixed media.
Among the sixteen artists exhibiting are Lorraine Winchester, an accomplished watercolourist of flora and fauna; Walter Gray a recognised watercolour artist; Audrey Hill, well known for her oil paintings of landscape and rural subjects; Melinda Radus, a young emerging artist.
While individual members of GAS have exhibited work at KCG, this is the first time GAS has held an exhibition as a group at Kapunda Community Gallery Inc. The group meet informally one day a week to paint and have recently started an evening group. Gawler Art Society began fifty years ago and will be celebrating their anniversary later this year.
